Almond Oatmeal

I just made the best bowl of oatmeal! seriously!

i got home from a personal training session and i was HUNGRY! i usually have a fruit and protein smoothie after a hard workout but i keep having this problem of being too cold to drink a cold smoothie. i decided to make some oatmeal. it was warm and sooo good.

i finally decided to try KERF's whipped oatmeal method. it was awesome and so worth the extra couple of minutes it took to cook it on the stove. i usually always microwave oatmeal of a minute and a half. this only took 4 and a half minutes more and was totally worth it.

my secret ingredient: almond paste.

i had some almond paste on hand from my holiday baking activities. i saw a giada at home episode that featured almond pancakes with almond paste in them and am looking forward to trying them. for some reason, that made me think about putting it in oatmeal. i will be doing this again for sure.

i followed KERF's insttructions of 1/3 c oatmeal, 1/3 cup water, 1/3 cup milk in small saucepan over medium heat. i then added 1/2 a banana that i had sliced super thin and "whipped" it into the oats mix as directed. then, i added about a teaspoon of almond paste chopped into little pieces and whipped that in. after 6 minutes, they were finished. at the end, i took it off the heat, scooped it into a bowl and added 1 tsp ground flaxseed and 1/2 tsp of agave nectar.

i'm telling you it was amazing! i can't wait to eat it again!
