The Weekly Nightcap: Maple Bourbon Fizz

i am a whiskey girl, through and through. i am pretty sure the first cocktail i ever sipped at a fairly young age was an old fashioned (my poppop's signature drink).

i still love old fashioned drinks (although no one can make one quite comparable to his) as well as manhattans, whiskey sours (no fruit please), jameson on the rocks, and even the new spiced whiskey spicebox i raved about here.

i realize not everyone has a love of whiskey like i do, so this drink will not appeal of everyone but i loved it. it was love at first sip. the slight sweetness of the maple syrup and vanilla balanced out the bourbon whiskey and of course i loved the bit of bubbly the club soda gave the drink.

i recommend enjoying this on one of the (hopefully) few chilly nights we have left this winter. with a cozy blanket, your pj's and a warm fire, this maple bourbon fizz will warm you from the inside out.

Maple Bourbon Fizz
makes 2 drinks

4oz your favorite bourbon whiskey (i like makers mark)
2 tsp pure maple syrup
1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
club soda

fill 2 rocks glasses 3/4 full of ice.

pour whiskey, maple syrup, and vanilla into an ice filled shaker. shake well and divide among 2 rocks glasses and top with club soda.
