The Weekly Nightcap - A Partridge in a Pear Tree

Pears taste like Christmas to me. My family has enjoyed Harry and David's Royal Riviera Pears in December for as long as I can remember. When the box is delivered on my doorstep, I feel that Christmas is imminent.

I also try to make them last as long as I can (usually this entails ordering more than one box) and find different ways to use them. My favorite way to enjoy a pear is sliced in half, cored, and with a spoon. Of course they are also good in salads but I thought - why not in a cocktail?

This concoction just came to me when staring into my liquor cabinet. I have some pear brandy and I thought why not use that with some fresh, ripe pears? Plus, a splash of Amaretto makes nearly everything better.

The final step - naming it. This is usually the hardest part for me when I create a new cocktail. But this way easy - a Christmas cocktail with pears - a partridge in a pear tree! It tastes so fresh and Christmas-ey. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

A Partridge in a Pear Tree
serves 2

3 oz Pear Brandy
3 oz Amaretto
1 Large, ripe pear, peeled and cored

In a blender, combine all ingredients and blend until perfectly smooth. Pour into two tall glass filled with ice. Cheers!
