here's the deal, i have been wanting to tackle baltimore magazine's yearly best restaurants list for several years now. it's this crazy goal of mine to go to all the restaurants in 1 year. the past several years have included a list of 50 restaurants. yes, that averages out to nearly 1 per week and yes, it would be borderline crazy (not to mention expensive) but also incredibly fun and delicious.
call it a destiny or a sign from above, but E and i were just talking about mixing things up and trying new places rather than the same-old-same-old we always do. of course we will always love our standby favorites (yes, you corner stable, five, barretts, and cpk) but at some point, enough is enough and we have to step out of our comfort zone (or in our case zip code) and live a little. it was no coincidence that the very same week E and i had the "let's try new places" talk baltimore magazine came out with their 2012 list of best restaurants.
the crazy, almost "meant to be" thing is, this year the list is only 45!
that may sound like a bad thing but it's not. because i am right now, for all of cyber-space to witness (or at least my mom, dad, and mother-in-law who read this blog), committing to try all 45 restaurants in 52 weeks. which means i only have to do 45 this year, not 50.
my apologies to those of you who do not live in the baltimore area who will have to suffer through 45 restaurant reviews but perhaps i will convince just one person to visit our fair city. perhaps one out-of-state reader (if i have any) will decide to try on our cities charm and give bmore two thumbs up.
i may, at times, wish i lived somewhere else - the allure of the islands of hawaii is strong as are the warm breezes of florida or california. but for now, i am blessed with charm city as my backyard (or at least just 25 minutes away) so i will enjoy all she has to offer my stomach.

tomorrow, my journey commences as E and i celebrate my cousin, C's birthday along with his bride-to-be. the first stop on my culinary trek has been on my list to visit for quite a while now. stay tuned as brewer's art becomes the guinea pig for my appetite adventure.
my stomach and i can't wait to begin this journey, this appetite adventure.
I'm out of state (NY), and not your family member, and EXTREMELY excited to read these posts :)
