Weekly Nightcap - Grapefruit Margarita
it's friday! not only does that signify the start of the weekend, but it also means it's time for the weekly nightcap. this friday series features some of my favorite cocktails just in time for a little evening happy hour.
i am clearly in need of a little sunshine because i am craving things that feel like vacation, fish tacos, blueberry pancakes, and now margaritas! i saw grapefruit margaritas on an episode of "the best thing i ever ate" and i have been unable to think about anything else since. unfortunately, the episode didn't give a recipe, so i was on my own but i think it turned out really well.
one sip and i felt like i was south of the border. now, all i need is a little sand between my toes and some sunscreen. if only . . .
Grapefruit Margaritas
serves 2
4 oz smooth tequila
4 oz triple sec
1 oz fresh lime juice
1 oz simple syrup
4 oz fresh grapefruit juice
shake all ingredients together and pour over ice.

I saw the same episode, and Margs being my favorite cocktail I immediately started planning my next vacation just so that I could taste one. I am still dying for a grapefruit margarita, and plan on making my own version tomorrow (Super Bowl Sunday)! Go Steelers!
ReplyDeletewhile i cannot endorse your choice in football teams (i'm a ravens fan all the way) i do hope you enjoy your grapefruit margarita - let me know how yours turns out!
ReplyDeleteI love grapefruit margaritas. The fresh grapefruit juice makes a huge difference. I use agave in mine. I use it instead of simple syrup in all my drinks these days -- I'm lazy. :)
